Crane, John Alden was born on December 2, 1885 in St. George, Maryland, United States. Son of Charles Thomas and Annie Louisa (Levering) Crane.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Johns Hopkins. 1907; graduated from Army War College, 1928.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant, United States Army, 1908, and advanced through grades to major general, 1943. Served in P.I., 1908-1910, 19-21. With 1st division in France, 1917-1918.

Military attache to Turkey and Bulgaria, 1932-1936. Stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, since 1940.
