First employed in printing office, Edina, Missouri. Worked on Commercial, Louisville, Kentucky, and later became reporter and managing editor of Evening Ledger. Employed on newspapers of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Indianapolis, 1874-1888.
Lectured on religious and biographical topics, 1875. Wrote regularly for Chicago Sunday Times and occasionally for Chicago Tribune, 1888-1892, also proof reader Chicago Herald. Professional reader Shakespeare’s tragedies, specializing Othello and Hamlet, 1893-1894.
Began writing for Philadelphia Times, 1895. Writer of Sunday political articles for St. Louis Globe-Democrat, 1896-1914. Editorial writer New York American, 1914.
Later with Indianapolis Star.
