John Curtis ALGOCK, American Member State Legislature.


ALGOCK, John Curtis was born on January 21, 1881 in Glasgow, Kentucky, United States. Son of John L. and Emma (Duvall) Alcock.


Public School.


Elected Secretary-Treasurer, Kentucky Press Association, June since 1911.


Methodist Church.


Member, Lower House General Assembly, Boyle Company, 1928. Had passed at 1928 session State Legislature, bill providing for $5000. appropriation for Perryville Battlefield, where one of bloodiest battles of Civil War was fought, October 8, 1862. Appointed Chairman, State Commission, by Governor of Kentucky to have charge of spending the fund for improvement of grounds.

Had bill passed in Congress, taking the battlefield over as National’l Cemetery and erecting $5000 marker in honor of Union men killed in battle. The preliminary work is now being done to turn property over to Federal Government, and build marker. Confederate Monument was built on grounds, 1903.

Editor of Democratic Newspaper. Active in Boy Scout Work, Chairman, Local Council. Member; Masons; Knight Templar.
