Imboden, John Daniel was born on February 16, 1823 in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Son of George William and Isabella (Wunderlich) Imboden.

Education

Attended Washington College, 1841-1842.

Career

At least 5 children. Taught school, also practiced law, Staunton, Virginia. Member Virginia Legislature, 2 terms. Organized and commanded Staunton Artillery which aided in Confederate capture of Harper’s Ferry.

Promoted colonel Confederate Army, brigadier general, 1863. Served under gens. Jackson and Lee. Involved in railroad promotion for most of life after Civil War.
