SYM, John David was born in 1855. 2nd son of William Sym and Mary Thomson Pitcairn, daughter of James Pitcairn, Doctor of Medicine, Heriot Row7, Edinburgh.

Studied at Craigmount House School, and University of Edinburgh.

Career

Practised at Scottish Bar, 1878-1899: was extra Sheriff-Substitute of Lotliians and Peebles, 1886-1899. Advocate; Sheriff-Substitute of Perthshire since 1899.
