Educated Public school, Belleville, Illinois, to 1856, McKendree College, 1856-1860. Served in Civ. War as private and non-commissioned officer Battery F, 2d Illinois Artillery, 1862-1863, later First lieutenant 38th Missouri Infantry.

Career

2d, July 5, 1893, Lizzie Kemp Dudgeon (died October 8, 1895). 3d, February 22, 1897, Annie McIntire. After close of Civ. War employed as clerk in quartermaster’s department, St. Louis, 1865-1866.

Deputy company marshal, 1866-1867. Deputy clerk St. Louis Court of Criminal Correction, 1868-1870. Studied law, admitted to bar, 1870.

Began practice, February 1, 1871. Now member of law firm Johnson, Allen & Richards. Delaware Universal Congress Lawyers and Jurists, 1904.

Director Mexican Central Railway Limited company.
