Joined Kitchener’s Horse, 1900. Present at relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, march to Bloemfontein. With Ian Hamilton on march to Pretoria, Diamond Hill, et cetera
Took part in the Wittebergen operations, and subsequent pursuit of De Wet (South African War medal with seven clasps).
Served for six months in Cape Colony with Warren’s Mounted Infantry. Decorated: conspicuous gallantry in the field at Osfontein, Orange River Colony, March 1900. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900.
Formerly Lieutenant Kitchener’s Horse.
