Took part in the Wittebergen operations, and subsequent pursuit of De Wet (South African War medal with seven clasps).
Served for six months in Cape Colony with Warren’s Mounted Infantry. Decorated: conspicuous gallantry in the field at Osfontein, Orange River Colony, March 1900. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900.
