Attended several academics in Georgia and University of North Carolina, 1863, when went into C.S.A., serving in Duke’s Kentucky Regiment Cavalry, and in 1st Florida Cavalry until June, 1865. Attended Mount Zion School, 1866. Bachelor of Arts, University of Georgia, 1868, in law school, same, 1869.
Practiced law many years from 1869. Now managing large plantations. Owned and operated, 1889-1891, 3 saw mills and milling plants, 7 naval stores plants, and 7 stores.
Founder towns of Faceville, Miriam and Donalsonville, Georgia (latter still a flourishing town).
