Grout, John Henry was born on December 4, 1857 in Beverly, Massachusetts, United States. Son of John H. and Olive Adeline (Munroe) Grout.

Education

Descendant of Munroes of Lexington fame. Educated Boston Latin School, Chauncy Hall School, and St. Johnsbury (Vermont) Academy.

Career

2d, at Ventnor, Isle of Wight, Kitty Emily Austin, June 11, 1904. Connected with Boston Herald and other Boston papers 18 years. Afterwards with the Mexican Central R.R. and paymaster for the Louisiana Lighterage & Jetty Company at Tampico, Mexico Consul at Bermuda, January 14-October, 1893, Malta, 1898-1908, promoted to Odessa, Russia, January 9, 1908, Milan, Italy, July 17, 1914, Santander, Spain, 1917, Hull, England, October 29, 1921.

Former member Boston Light Infantry, 1st Regiment, M.V.M.
