Served with Royal Navy 1937-1956, specialising in submarines, later working with Naval Intelligence. Resigned with rank of Lieutenant Commander 1956. Joined Imperial Chemical Industries as Work Study Officer 1956, then held various commercial posts at Wilton and with Heavy Organic Chemicals Division until appointed Techno-Commercial Director 1967.
