Woodberry, John Henry was born on February 22, 1889 in Johnsonville, South Carolina, United States. Son of Watcoat G. and Rosa Belle (Eaddy) Woodberry.


Educated Clemson College, South Carolina., 1906-1907. The Citadel, South Carolina., 1907-1910. Bachelor of Science, United States Military Academy, 1914.

Graduated from Army Industrial College, 1928, Command and General staff schedul, 1930, Army War College, 1935.


Commissioned Second lieutenant, cavalry. United States Army, 1914, detailed to Ordnance Department, and translations to Field Artillery, 1916, translations to Ord. Department, 1920; advanced lieutenant colonel (temporary), 1918, brigadier general (temporary), 1945.

Holds numerous patents on munitions of war, notably artillery fuze devices for control of detonating waves used in practically all United States of America high explosive ammunition. Served in War Department General Staff, 1934-1939. Chief ordnance officer, Supply Services, Headquarters, S.W. Pacific Area, 1944-1945.

Ordnance officer, Army Service Command, Japan Army of Occupation, 1945. Later president Sunray Awning Shutter Corporation.
