John Joseph Donovan, American civil engineer, lumber. Member City Council, Fairhaven, Washington, 1890-1892.

Donovan, John Joseph was born on September 8, 1858 in Rumney, New Hampshire, United States. Son of Patrick and Julia (O’Sullivan) Donovan.

Education

Graduate Plymouth (N.H.) State Normal School, 1877. Bachelor of Science in C.E., Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 1882, later C.E., also Doctor of Science, 1932.

Career

Civ. engineer N.P. Railway, 1882-1888, in charge Cascade div., 1886-1887, in charge Montana construction, 1887-1888. Chief engineer and manager 3 rys. radiating from Bellingham and sold to G.N., N.P. and C.,M.&St.P. respectively. Built and operated many miles of railroad, etc.

Has been engaged in lumber business exclusively, since 1906. Director Bloedel Donovan Lumber Mills.
