Giffen, John Kelly was born on June 3, 1853 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, United States. Son of Morrison and Margaret (Taggart) Giffen.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Franklin College, O., 1879. Graduated from the University P. Theological Seminary, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, 1881. Doctor of Divinity, Tarkio (Missouri) College, 1904.

Career

Ordained U.P. ministry, 1881. Sent as missionary to Egypt and Soudan. Assistant in Training College, 1881-1888.

Evangelistic superintendent in Upper Egypt, 1888-1891, superintendent various districts in Africa, since 1891. Secretary Association (mission) in Egypt, 1883-1891, to Soudan, 1900. General secretary and treasurer American Mission, Soudan, since 1905.
