Career

Began as farmer; ordained as Baptist minister, 1915. Student pastor small chs., 1915-1924. Pastor 1st Church, Leods, Alabama, 1924-1925, 1st Church, Bryan, Texas, 1930-1932, 1st Church, Longview, Texas, 1925-1930, and from 1932.

Chairman board Southwide Committee on Baptist Papers, also of Baptist Standard Public Company. Member state Executive Board Baptist General Convention of Texas. Member commission to write Texas Centennial Baptist History.

Vice president Southern Baptist Convention, 1936-1937. Trustee College of Marshall, Marshall, Texas. Trustee Mary Hardin-Baylor College, Belton, Texas, since 1935.

Chairman Longview Park Board. Director Longview Chamber Commerce.
