Education
Received his Master of Laws degree in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law in 1999, with a concentration in public international law. In 1990, received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he was Managing Editor of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Seton Hall University in 1987.
Career
Dual national of the United States and Italy who is fluent in English and Italian. Founder and Managing Partner of Arabian Gulf Holdings Limited, a boutique private equity firm based in New York City and Dubai.
Began his legal career in 1990 with the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. From 1992 to 1993, he was an attorney with Brosio, Casati E Associati in Milan, Italy, afterward returning to Sullivan & Cromwell’s London office.

Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association, member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), the International Council of Museums and the Economic Club of New York. Served on the Committee on Art Law, Committee on International Security Affairs, Special Committee on the United Nations, Council on International Affairs, and Committee on International Law of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Adviser to the Nunciature of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. Advises the Holy See on matters concerning public international law and represents the Holy See in the General Assembly and at other United Nations bodies. Member of the Holy See Delegations to the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural), the Sixth Committee (Legal), and to other ad hoc committees of the General Assembly.
Serves on the boards of Save Venice, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (formerly Chairman of the Executive Committee), the International Friends of La Fenice (Chairman), the Academic Council of the Ateneo Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti (Venetian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts) and the American Foundation of Savoy Orders (Vice President); formerly a Trustee ex officio of the Solomon R. Born in New Jersey, on July 1, 1965, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Giovanni Fiorilla di Santa Croce (the former Maria Giuseppina Mazzara). He married Annie Borello in Vatican City and has two sons – Giovanni Maria and Tancredi.
Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia (1991) and the States of New York (1991) and New Jersey (1990), as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States (1995).
