Studied Christian Brothers’ College, 1872-1873. Studied law with Nathaniel C. Moak, of Albany, and Erastus New, of New York City.

Career

Admitted to New York bar, 1882. Assistant Corporate Counsel to Fire Department, later of Department of buildings, New York City, 1891-1893. Appointed general counsel Union Railway Company and associated lines, 1893.

Elected judge Municipal Court, 2d District, Bronx, 1898.

Reelected for 2d term of 10 years, 1907. President Board of Municipal Judges, 1910-1915.

Justice Supreme Court of New York, 1st District, term 1916-1929.
