Strock, John Roy was born on June 8, 1882 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of George W. and Barbara (Herman) Strock.

Ordained Lutheran ministry, 1908. Missionary among Telugus, India, 1908-1949. Professor in Andhra Christian College, Guntur, since 1909, principal, 1913-1924, and 1926-1939.
