LIDGETT, John Scott was born in 1854 in Lewisham. Son of late John Jacob Lidgett, Blackheath (d. 1869), and Maria Elizabeth Scott, daughter of late Reverend John Scott, the first head of the Wesleyan System of Elementary Education.

Entered Wesleyan ministry, 1876. Stationed at Tunstall, Southport, Cardiff, Wolverhampton, and Cambridge. Founded, in connection with late Doctor Moulton, the Bermondsey Settlement, 1891.
