He ran the hurdles until sustaining an injury and then competed in the shot put. He was the captain of Michigan"s track team as a senior and received his bachelor"s degree from Michigan in 1903. After three years as a teacher in Michigan, Robinson enrolled in Columbia Law School in 1907 and received his law degree in 1910.
After receiving his law degree, Robinson moved to Seattle.
