Republican; later Greenbacker. Returned to Republican party, 1890. Defeated for state senate as Greenbacker, 1870.
Journal clerk, Indiana Senate, 1878. 1st assistant, Indiana bureau of Statistics, 1878-1883. Company surveyor 10 years Devised 5 new problems in trigonometry as applied to surveying.
