Donahoo, Donahoo & Ball was founded in 1940 by Ernest West. Mitchell and John West. Donahoo as Mitchell and Donahoo (partnership). lieutenant was the first law firm in Jacksonville to specialize in taxes.
The firm name changed to Mitchell, Donahoo & Rogers with the addition of William T. Rogers in 1944.
Following the death of Ernest Mitchell in 1948, the firm continued as a partnership until 1981 when it became a professional association. The firm continues to specialize in taxation and emphasizes Florida Bar Board of Certification in this field, masters degree (Master of Laws in Taxation) or strong taxation backgrounds.
The primary area of practice continues to be wills, trusts, estates, corporate and real property and the impact of Federal income, estate and gift taxes in these areas.
