Haussermann, John William was born on December 14, 1867 in Pierce Township, Clermont County, Ohio, United States. Son of Lewis Charles and Dorothea (Traub) Haussermann.


Graduate New Richmond, O., Public school, 1886. Bachelor of Laws, University Cincinnati, 1889.


Admitted to Ohio bar, 1889, later practiced in Leavenworth, Kansas. City attorney, Leavenworth, 1894-1897. Enlisted with 20th Kansas Vols., 1898, and served in Philippines as Second lieutenant.

Transferred to 34th United States Vols. and served as judge advocate of provost guard in Manila to 1902. Appointed by Governor Taft to prepare charter for City of Manila and served as city attorney, 1902. Assistant attorney general Philippine Islands, 1902-1903.

Resigned to enter private practice of law. Member Coudert Brothers, New York City, in Manila branch, 1903-1907, Haussermann, Cohn & Williams, 1907-1915. Private business, principally gold mining, since 1915.

Chairman of the Board New Richmond National Bank.
