With United States Department of Agriculture as research chemist, investigation fertilizer resources, 1911-1916, director experimental plant for extraction of potash from kelp, at Summerland, California, 1916-1922. In charge potash investigations, 1922-1935.

President, chairman American Potash Institute, Incorporated., 1935-1949, emeritus.

United States delegate to 3d International Congress Technology and Chemical in Agricultural Industries, 9th International Congress Pure and Applied Chemistry, 11th Conference International Union Chemistry (councilor), 10th International Congress of Chemistry.
