He first worked in the theater in Jules Feiffer"s Little Murders, directed by Alan Arkin in 1969. He later began acting in movies and on television In 1998 he directed his first film, Who Was That Manitoba
He also teaches at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City.
