Career
He took the candidate.real. at the University of Oslo in 1970 and the dr.philos. degree at the same institution in 1980. He was appointed as a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Oslo in 1989. He is a fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
Together with January Myrheim he has made important discoveries on anyons.
The duo shared in Science in 1993. He resides at Gjettum.
