Jonathan Fielden is a British physician. He was a medical director of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Background

Jonathan Fielden was born on September 9, 1963, in Yorkshire, United Kingdom; the son of Barry and Margaret (Shaw) Fielden.

Education

Fielden studied at the independent Bedford School. He received a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Bristol in 1988.

Career

Fielden worked as a consultant at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine from 1988. Also he was a chairman of the Central Consultants and Specialists Committee of the British Medical Association from 2006 to 2009. From 2008 Jonathan held the position of a director of medical education and training at the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He was appointed a director of specialised comissioning at NHS England in October 2015.

In December 2016 Fielden was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism of a minor. He was suspended by the General Medical Council in January 2017. He resigned from his directorship at UCLH and his role as the director of specialised commissioning at NHS England following his arrest. Fielden was convicted of this offence in June 2019 and given a suspended sentence.

  • Fielden was reckoned by the Health Service Journal to be the 49th most influential person in the English NHS in 2015.
