Jonathan Prown was born around 1965 in the United States.
Jonathan Prown studied at Colgate University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1983. In 1993, Prown earned a Master of Arts at College of William and Mary.
Jonathan Prown started his career as an apprentice paintings conservator at Arthur Page Conservation Studio in Washington in 1985. Then he relocated to Williamsburg, where he worked as a furniture conservation intern and technician at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation during 1986 - 1990. He was later promoted to the positions of an assistant curator of furniture and an associate curator of furniture and sculpture at the Department of Collections. Nowadays Prown is Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Chipstone Foundation.
Jonathan was a guest curator of “Simply Petersburg: Petersburg Furniture, 1760-1820”, “Southern Furniture, 1680-1830: The Colonial Williamsburg Collection”, and “1699 Virginia.” Moreover, he was a speaker at museums and galleries. He is a contributor of articles and reviews to periodicals, including Journal of Early Southern Decorative Arts, American Furniture, and Winterthur Portfolio.
