Vanlerberghe can also be used as an attacker. Vanlerberghe made his Belgian Pro League debut at 27 October 2012 in the derby against Lierse South.K. He replaced Nicklas Pedersen as a 88th-minute substitute.
He scored his first professional goal at 25 January 2014 against R.A.E.C. Mons.
