At the University of Miami, Rivera earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in two years and graduated cum laude. During the summers, Rivera worked as a legal intern for Immigration in order to gain experience in the field and college cartulary-register Jorge Rivera attended the University of Miami Law School after being granted the Minority Participation in Legal (MPLE) full scholarship.
There he graduated with cum laude honors and was admitted to the Florida Bar.
Jorge Rivera founded Immigration Group Limited Liability Company. The firm grew and relocated from 79th Street, in front of the old immigration building, to Coral Gables, Florida inside Miami-Dade County. Immigration Group opened an office in Los Angeles, California as well as offices in Houston, Texas and Charlotte, North Carolina. In the future, expansion of the firm will include offices in New York City, New York and Chicago, Illinois.
Jorge Rivera has offered pro bono legal advice to disadvantaged immigrants via live events, television, radio, internet chats and blogs.
In one event in Los Angeles, California, Rivera spoke to over 20,000 people on the current issues in immigration in the United States. Television Jorge Rivera has appeared on television with the Spanish-language television network Univision and has appeared on programs such as Sabado Gigante, Despierta America, and Primer Impacto.
Rivera also appeared on a local television every Wednesday to participate in segments on immigration on the news program “First Rate (at Lloyd's) Amanecer”. Radio Jorge Rivera has been invited to speak on a regular basis on national Spanish-language news radio by radio personalities such as Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo, Doctora Isabel, and Julie Stav and on local radio stations such as WAMR-FM (Amor 1075 FM)and WYMY-FM (Louisiana Ley 1011 FM) in North Carolina.
