Achievements include first identification in Spain by electron microscopy of tristeza (quick decline) virus particles in Citrus; first determination of sizes of short- and long-lived pools of proteins in mammal cells; first characterization of the gene structure of the human mitochondrial outer membrane receptor Tom20. Named Predilect Son of Torrent, 2000.
