Cuevas Novelo, José Luis was born on February 26, 1934 in Federal District, Mexico. Son of Alberto Cuevas Gómez, pilot, and María R. Novelo. Grandfather, manager of a paper manufacturing plant friend of Abel Quezada, political cartoonist and artist.
Education
Studies at the School of Painting and Sculpture La Esmeralda, 1943-1947. Studied drawing with Lola Cueto, Mexico City College, 1948. Professor of Drawing, Art School, Latin American University, Federal District.
Artist-in-Residence, Philadelphia Museum School of Art, 1957-1958. Art-ist-in-Residence, San José State University, 1970. Artist-in-Residence, Fullerton College, 1975.
Career
Candidate for Federal Deputy from the Federal District, District 1, 1970. Painter; pi ^’ed a mural at the National University during the 1968 student strike.
