Joseph-Henri Altes was a pupil of the Paris Conservatory, and a fine flute-player at Grand Opera; from 1868 to 1894 - successor of Dorus as Conservatory professor. Joseph-Henri published flute-pieces, many with the accompaniment of pianoforte or orchestra. He died in Paris on July 24, 1895.
