BRIDGE, Joseph Cox was born in 1853 in Rochester. Son of John Bridge.

Education

Studied at Rochester Cathedral Choir School. Privately; Exeter College, Oxford (Organ Scholarship). Master of Arts.

Career

Assistant to John Hopkins, organist of Rochester Cathedral. To his brother, Sir Frederick Bridge, at Manchester Cathedral, 1870. Organist and Master of the Choristers of Chester Cathedral, 1877.

Cona ictor of the Chester Triennial Musical Festivals, 1879-1900, and Honourable Secretary since 1890. Founder and Conductor of the Chester Musical Society. Conductor of Bradford Festival Choral Society, 1887-1890.

Examiner in Music to the Universities of Oxford, Durham, and London. Musical; Professor of Music in the University of Durham since 1908. Organist and Master of the Choristers of Chester Cathedral. D.Mus. Oxfordshire. et Dunelm.
