Buxton was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. Buxton made a single first-class appearance for Nottinghamshire against Gloucestershire at Trent Bridge in the 1937 County Championship. Batting first, Nottinghamshire made 396 all out, with Buxton the last man out when he was dismissed by Regional Sinfield for 6 runs.
In response, Gloucestershire were dismissed for 350, with Buxton taking the wicket of Charlie Barnett to finish with figures of 1/54 from eighteen overs.
