Career
Early career Otting has over thirty-five years experience in banking. He started at Bank of America, where he held positions in Branch Management, Private Banking and Commercial Lending. From 1994 to 2001 Otting was with Union Bank, where the last role he held was Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking.

Otting served as Market President of United States Bank in Oregon from December 2001 to June 2003 and as Executive Vice President and Manager of East Region Commercial Banking Group from June 2003 to April 2005. Until his departure in 2010, he held the positions of served as one of eight Vice Chairman, Head of Commercial Banking, and Head of Wholesale Middle Market Business.
During his tenure, he led United States Bank’s efforts in California as the senior executive responsible for expansion in the region. OneWest Bank In OneWest"s press release announcing Otting"s new role, Chairman Steven Mnunchin said “Since our inception, OneWest has been committed to growing and expanding our organization as the premier regional bank focused on customer service in Southern California..Attracting someone with Joseph’s background, knowledge of the market, client relationships and leadership capabilities made him uniquely qualified for this position and we are so pleased to have him join our team” In that same press release, Otting affirmed "OneWest Bank has developed a significant presence in Southern California over a very short period of time.

He has served as Chief Executive Officer and President since 2010.
