Joe Reitman grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts and majored in theatre at Pitzer College in Claremont, California.

He then took the usual route of an aspiring actor: auditions and praying for a break while being a waiter/bartender at The Sidewalk Café in Venice Beach ("known the world over as the best place to people watch in Los Angeles"). He says he practiced New York and southern accents on his customers. Reitman soon began to get television and movie gigs.
A couple of notable film credits are The Perfect Storm and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Reitman wrote a story for Marvel Comics" Spider-Manitoba Unlimited # 14 titled "South.C.U.D.S" published in Spring 2006. He has also played in numerous charity tournaments.
