Selden, Joseph Barr was born on October 10, 1943 in Providence. Son of William Kirkpatrick and Mary Virginia (Barr) Selden.

Assistant to executive director Group Health Association America, Washington, 1971—1972. Assistant administrator Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, 1972—1976. Administrator Longview State Hospital, 1976—1978.

Assistant administrator Hillside Hospital, Warren, 1978—1979, chief executive officer, 1979—1984. With International Medical Association Finance Corporation, Youngstown, since 1985. Corporation member Trumbull Memorial Hospital, since 1981.
