Career

Admitted to bar, 1872. In practice 1872-1878. Deacon, 1878, priest, 1880, Protestant Episcopal Church.

Rector Chapel Hill, 1878-1881, St. Peter’s, Charlotte, North Carolina, 1881-1893. Consecrated coadjutor bishop October 15, 1893, becoming bishop of North Carolina on death of Bishop Lyman, December 13, 1893. Trustee University of the South, since 1885.
