He did primary studies in Fort Lamy and Brazzaville, secondary education at the College of the Holy Family in Cairo, and law studies in Paris, graduating at the Faculty of Law of Lyons later. He obtained diplomas in Prison, Science and Higher Law Studies and a diploma at the top French National Overseas College.
His professional career started in Brazzaville where he was Deputy Public Prosecutor from 1955 to 1957 before becoming Justice of the Peace at Djambala, in the Congo, until 1959, when he became Public Prosecutor in Moundou. Soon after independence he was appointed, in December 1960, Ambassador to Paris until July 1965. On April 19, 1966, he became Minister of Justice.
