Reid, Joseph Browning was born on June 24, 1924 in Flint Hill, Virginia, United States. Son of Charles Garrison and Grace Pearl (Bradley) Reid.


Student, University Virginia, 1948. Bachelor of Science in Forestry with highest honors, North Carolina State University, 1952. Postgraduate, Columbia University, 1955.

Certified in architecture, Cooper Union, 1960.
