Formerly pastor Moravian churches in Lebanon, Philadelphia and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Principal Moravian Seminary and College for Women, 1893-1909 (oldest girls’ boarding school in America, founded, 1749). Retired. One of founders of the Pennsylvania German Society and Pennsylvania Chautauqua, of which was 1st chancellor.
