Assistant to pastor, Peoples Church, St. Paul, Minnesota, 1893-1894. Appointed superintendent Men’s Settlement Club, St. Paul, 1894. Went to Kansas City, Missoury, 1899, as general secretary Associated Charities, and established an industrial social settlement.
Called Franklin Institute (now Swope Settlement). Resigned, 1902, to give full time to settlement and general welfare movements. Superintendent self-help department Park College, Parkville, Missouri, 1905-1908.
Settled at Youngstown, O., 1908, and organized the charitable and welfare work of the city, title of general secretary Community-Service Society.
