Wilson, Joseph William was born on November 22, 1851 in Birmingham. Son of late Joseph William Wilson, Member of Institution of Civil Engineers, Member Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute, 1st Principal of Crystal Palace School of Practical Engineering, and Harriet Ann Moore.
Education
Studied at Doctor Pinches’ School, Kennington.
Career
Served his time in shops, and offices of his father. Then in civil engineering practice with him in Westminster. Company-founder, with father, of Crystal Palace Engineering School, 1872, being 1st Vice-Principal from commencement until 1898.
Since then Principal.
President of Society of Engineers, 1892 and 1908. Vice-President of Incorporated Society of Inspectors of Weights and Measures since 1893.
Member of Lord Brassey’s Organising Committee of the London International Maritime Congress, 1893. Honourable Member Junior Institution of Engineers.
Principal, Crystal Palace School of Practical Engineering.
