Career
He largely served as back up to experienced Japanese halfback Fumiaki Tanaka throughout 2013, however Tanaka returned to Japan to play Top League rugby with the Panasonic Wild Knights in 2014 which saw Renton become first choice for the Razorbacks. He played 10 games during a disappointing campaign for the men from Dunedin and scored one try. He was subsequently named in the Highlanders wider training group for the 2015 Super Rugby season.
International Renton represented New Zealand Under-20 during the 2014 Institutional Review Board Junior World Championship in his home country.
