Career
Brown played netball with Victoria from 1958 to 1963 and went on to captain the winning Australian team at the 1963 World Netball Championships. After this she went on to become a coach and umpire. Coaching career
As coach of the All Australian team Brown led the nation to world championship titles three times:
New Zealand in 1975
Singapore in 1983 and 1991
In 1990 Joyce became Australia"s first full-time national coach.
She also coached for the Victoria State team from 1972 to 1975 and again in 1979.
In recognition for her services through the years Brown has been awarded:

The Associate of Arts Umpires Award
Induction into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1989
Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1992
Australian Sports Medal in 2000
Centenary Medal in 2001
Induction into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame in 2008.
