Juan was born in Buenos Aires, christened on July 23, 1643 in the Metropolitan Cathedral, their parents were Amador Báez de Alpoim and Ana Romero de Santa Cruz.

Career
In 1667 Alpoim was elected mayor for the second time. In 1668 is appointed prosecutor. He also had served as captain of Company, and alférez real in the city.
Alpoim was a powerful farmer, his farm had more than a thousand head of cattle.
A very large amount in those days.
