With a pedigree from a line of artisans and architects, he finished multi-disciplinary courses in sculpture, painting and light design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco (2000-2003). He then moved to London and graduated at Architectural Association School of Architecture (2009).
He lives and works in Makati City in the Philippines. He has been called "one of the Philippines’ bright young stars in architecture, interior design and visual arts"
As a visual artist, Calma has exhibited in San Francisco, London, and Manila. He has since then taken part in solo and group exhibitions in other places, while garnering recognition from art collectors in the Southeast Asian region and beyond.
Calma also owns and curates Manifesto Gallerie in Manila, as well as a fine-dining restaurant that fuses food and art, called Gallery Vask.
