Julia Armfield works as an education coordinator and assistant to the director at Inner Temple, one of the four Inns of Court in London. She is a fiction writer and occasional playwright. Her work has been published in Lighthouse, Analog Magazine, Neon Magazine and The Stockholm Review. Her first book, Salt Slow, a collection of short stories about bodies and the bodily, mapping the skin and bones of its characters through their experiences of isolation, obsession and love, was sold at auction, and Picador published it in May 2019.
Julia Armfield is a prolific short story writer. She was commended in the Moth Short Story Prize 2017, longlisted for the Deborah Rogers Award 2018, and won the White Review short story prize 2018.
