Julie L. Nelson

Background

Julie Nelson was born on July 22, 1970, in Good Thunder, Minnesota, the United States, to John C. (a factory worker) and Donna (a secretary; maiden name, Smothers) Nelson.

Education

Nelson attended Central College at Pella and received a bachelor's degree in 1992. She continued her education at Minnesota State University at Mankato, where she became a Master of Fine Arts in 1996.

Career

Since 1992, Nelson works at Minnesota State University, Mankato as an adjunct instructor. She also taught in Austin in 1998. She was an athletic coach for high school basketball and college softball.

She is the author of The History of the Los Angeles Sparks (1999) and several books for children, including Kids Need to Be Safe: A Book for Children in Foster Care (2005).
