Jun Matsumoto was born in 1832 in Japan. He was the second son of Taizen Sato. Was adopted by Ryoho Matsumoto, physician to the Shogunate.
He studied medicine in Nagasaki.
During the Boshin-no-Eki opened a hospital in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture in 1868 and later another in Waseda, Tokyo. After the Meiji Restoration was surgeon to the army and rendered distinguished services during the Saga in 1874 and Seinan in 1877 incidents.
He was member of House of Peers.
